Git: can't publish branch from dev container

My dev container allows me to commit, but in order to publish a branch, I need to open the project in a non-dev-container. This is possible but I always forget it, and then I need to search why. So I want to document this so that I don't run into the issue again.

Can I solve this? What are the correct access rights?

@yala Is it worth enabling this feature? If not, I can continue like this, and will leave the issue as a reminder for myself.
