Recipes
Recipes could be a big sub-project for ValueFlows.
Here are a couple of discussions with potential collaborators about them.
GOSH has standardized on DocuBricks and are discussing in this document.
I'm looking into DocuBricks and will start to ask them some questions, which I will report back here.
My questions have to do with the broad range of use cases that I think we need to support in VF, and whether DocuBricks can do that. Those include making open source hardware, which DocuBricks seems to focus on, as well as growing and processing food, and also more general workflows. Regardless, I think we at least want to be able to translate VF Recipes to and from DocuBricks.
In general, this topic is about documenting "how we do something that we do repeatedly", so we don't need to reinvent it all every time. Recipes are also used for planning.
After a long discussion in Sensorica, we ended up calling those Recipes, and I still like that word. That wiki page also explains a little bit about how those kinds of documentation have evolved in the history of manufacturing systems. Workflow systems have had their own parallel evolution, of which I am less familiar, but I think they have evolved similarly into loosely coupled networks.
I have two questions here and now:
- who wants to collaborate on this topic?
- and should it have its own repo in the valueflows github org?
