Minimum? Viable?
Pushing back a bit on Minimum Viable App:
- I dislike the idea. Comes from startup land. I escaped that land 12 years ago.
- We got a lot of our own pushback when we started the NRP project: it was too big. And it was. But:
- We had a goal of supporting a contribution economy, with value equations for distributing income according to contributions, and that requires a lot of machinery. And
- We didn't know what all would be required. In the course of the project, we have probably thrown away half the code we wrote.
- For me, value flows is similar. I want to support a whole distributed economy.
- So while I am in favor of developing the Minimum App as proposed on the page linked above, I don't think it does enough to be either viable (in the sense of usable by real users) or a credible proof of concept. I think that a credible proof of concept will require at least actual round trips between at least two existing and different projects. And best if it is at least a resource transfer.
You may disagree. I am posting this partly to check out the opinion-scape.
